Why do I need an RSA in QLD?
The Office of Liquor, Gaming & Racing's (OLGR) Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) course is about understanding the liquor legislation in Queensland and how it applies to and affects licensed premises and their employees.
The OLGR RSA training is mandatory for Licensees (if an individual) and approved managers and including all other staff members on the premises that are involved in the sale, supply and service of alcohol such as;
- Bar Attendants
- Waiters/ waitresses
- Glass collectors
- Hosts
- Security Staff
- Bottle shop staff
- Promotional staff
The Queensland OLGR course is a prescribed 4 hour program.
A statement of attainment will be issued within 24 hours for the successful completion of the course.
RSA certificates remain current for a period of three years. Renewal should be completed before the expiry of that period.
Course Overview
This course comprises of four elements of competency:
- Identify customers to whom service may be refused
- Prepare and serve alcoholic beverages responsibly
- Assist customers to drink within appropriate limits
- Assist alcohol affected customers

Course Requirements
- Be able to read and write English (Workplace Health & Safety requirement)
- Literacy skills to read and comprehend documents (to required skill level)
- Numeracy skills to measure and calculate (to required skill level)
